Solicitor Shot While At His Desk Dies

A solicitor who was shot in the head with a sawn-off shotgun has died from his injuries, police say.

58-year-old James Ward was left fighting for his life after a man walked into his office and shot him while he worked at his desk in Devizes.

The married father of three, from Westbury, Wiltshire, was taken to hospital where his family has maintained a bedside vigil since the shooting on 2 July.

Wiltshire police said Ward died on Sunday in hospital.

62-year-old businessman Michael Chudley has been charged with attempted murder.

Chudley, of no fixed address, will appear at Winchester crown court on 24 September.

He is accused of the attempted murder of Ward, making threats to kill Daphne Courtney, possession of a sawn-off shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence to Daphne Courtney and carrying a firearm with criminal intent to commit an indictable offence, namely murder.

Shot Belfast Man Recovering
A 35-year-old man has been shot twice in the leg inside a house in Twinbrook in Co Antrim on the outskirts of Belfast. A young girl and a woman were in the house in the Summerhill Drive area when the attack happened on Wednesday night. However, it is not believed that the man's injuries are life threatening.

Man Charged After Solicitor Shot In Head
A man has been charged with attempted murder after a solicitor was shot in the head at his office in Wiltshire. 62-year-old Michael Chudley has been charged with the attempted murder of James Ward, 58, who was shot and seriously injured at Morris, Goddard & Ward Solicitors in St John's Street, Devizes, on Monday.

Ward Sister sentenced to five years for attempted murder
A nurse has been found guilty today of the attempted murder of two elderly patients in a Crewe hospital. Former Ward Sister, Barbara Salisbury, 48, from Pontybodkin in north Wales, received two five-year sentences to run concurrently at Chester Crown Court on Friday.

Man found guilty of Pc shooting
A man has been found guilty of the attempted murder of a trainee police officer. Trevon Thomas, 24, of Melford Road, Bilborough, shot Pc Rachael Bown, also 24, three times as she investigated a burglary in the Lenton area of Nottingham on February 14.
