Ex-Detective Guilty Of Sexual Assault
A Humberside police detective has been given a12-month community order and curfew after admitting sexually assaulting a female college.
37-year-old Mike Johnson is the third member of the Humberside force to be investigated for sexual offences in the last 17 months.
Sentencing Johnson at Bradford crown court on Thursday, Judge John Potter said that what he had done had been "nothing less than sexual abuse".
Bradford crown court heard on Thursday that Johnson assaulted the woman during a night out with colleagues in a bar near Hull city centre in May last year.
Johnson twice put his arm around the small of the woman's back in the space of 20 minutes in an "inappropriate" manner, the court heard.
On the second occasion her ran his fingers down over the back of her clothing and touched her in the vaginal area, the court heard.
Johnson, a police officer for more than seven years, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault last month on the day he was due to stand trial.
The Crown Prosecution Service decided not to proceed with two further counts of sexual assault against another woman – also a female member of police staff – on a separate date. He resigned from the force last year.

Suspended sentence for student voyeur
A student who secretly filmed women in the bathroom at his university halls of residence has been given a suspended sentence. Charles Greaves, 19, from Wellington, Shropshire, pleaded guilty to three counts of installing equipment to gain images for sexual gratification, as well as three counts of viewing images for sexual gratification.

A 55-year-old man has been found guilty of sexually abusing street children in Africa. Simon Harris, of Pudleston in Herefordshire, was found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court of seven charges of indecent and sexual assault, and of possessing indecent images of children.

French Police Arrest Convicted On-The-Run Rapist
A 56-year-old convicted rapist who went on the run before his trial has been captured in France. Police in Calais arrested George Doulat, from Filey, North Yorkshire, on Monday. In his absence, Doulat was convicted at Bradford Crown Court for the rape, attempted rape and sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman in 2012. He was sentenced to 10 years.
