Wales Considering Bid For 2026 Commonwealth Games

Wales is considering a bid to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games, BBC Wales have reported.

Welsh government are said to be working with Cardiff council and “key stakeholders”, and a feasibility study into the cost of hosting such an event is underway.

"We have made a commitment to work with Cardiff City Council to look at the feasibility of bidding to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games,” the Welsh government has said.

Adding: "We are working with the council and other key stakeholders, such as the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales, to meet that commitment."

British Council Wales To Run New EU Training And Volunteer Scheme
A new European Union training and volunteering scheme for young people at the British Council Wales is to create more than 50 jobs in Cardiff. The UK arm of Erasmus+, will offer opportunities to more than 30,000 young people under the new scheme. The British Council will run the scheme in partnership with Ecorys UK from the private sector.

Student Killed On Way To Collect GCSE Results
A teenage girl has died after being knocked down while on her way to collect her GCSE results. The 16-year-old girl, who has not been named, was hit by a refuse lorry at 9am near to her school Ysgol Gyfun Treorci in the Rhondda, south Wales. Paramedics treated the student as she lay trapped under the vehicle on Conway Street.

Scottish Govt To Giveaway 5,000 Commonwealth Games Tickets
Community groups, people with disabilities and young people are to be given up to 5,000 free tickets for the 2014 Commonwealth Games taking place in Glasgow. The Scottish government is leading the giveaway as part of its Legacy 2014 scheme aimed at recognising achievement.
