Couple Deny House Fire Murder Charges
A couple have denied charges of murdering six of their children in a house fire in Derby.
Mick Philpott, 55, and his wife Mairead, 31, have denied the six counts of murder.
The fire broke out at their home in Victory Road in Allenton and caused the deaths of six of their children.
A second man, Paul Mosley, 45, of Cecil Street, Derby, is also charged with their murders.
The couple wept as the charges were read out to them. The trial is due to take place in January next year.
Teenager Pleads Guilty TOver Barman's Death
A teenager has pleaded guilty to culpable homicide following the death of a 28-year-old barman in East Ayrshire.
Stuart Walker was burned and beaten to death in Cumnock on 22 October last year.
19-year-old Ryan Esquierdo was due to go on trial for murder at the High Court in Glasgow but the Crown accepted his plea to the lesser charge.
The victim had been out with friends the night his body was found near Cumnock's Caponacre Industrial Estate.
Man Arrested Over Golf Course Hunting
A man has been arrested in Glasgow following allegations he was involved in hunting deer on a golf course.
The 19-year-old has been charged under the Protection of Wildlife Mammals Act and Wildlife and Countryside Act.
A police search in a house in Swallow Gardens, Knightswood, revealed three deer skulls and two snares.
Courts will decide whether the bull lurcher and silica greyhound alleged to have been used in the act will be removed from the property.
Woman's Body Discovered In Elgin
A man has been taken into custody following the discovery of a woman’s body in Elgin.
The 41-year-old woman’s body was found after police officers were called to the New Elgin area of the Moray town at about 03:15 this morning.
Grampian Police have said a 55-year-old man was assisting with inquiries. The death is being treated as suspicious.

The man accused of the murder of teenager Vicky Hamilton has been attacked in prison by an inmate. Peter Tobin, 61, who is being held at Saughton jail in Edinburgh, was due in court on Thursday to face charges relating to the murder of the 15-year-old Scottish schoolgirl.

French Court Postpones Extradition Decision
Magistrates in France have today postponed a decision on the extradition of Robert Williams, to the UK, after he was found with a teenage girl from Lincolnshire. Fifteen-year-old Laura Stainforth, was discovered in France last week with Mr Williams after going missing from her home.

A man has appeared in court to face charges related to the death of 15-year-old Vicky Hamilton, whose remains were found in the garden of a house in Kent. Peter Tobin, 61, who is currently in custody, appeared before Linlithgow Sheriff Court on Thursday. He was remanded in custody and is expected to reappear in court next week.
