Drug Turf Murderers Jailed For Life

Two men have been sentenced to life in prison following the murder of two teenagers in a drug-turf row.

Mohammed Abdi Farah, 19, and Amin Ahmed Ismail, 18, were shot dead in an alley on the Fishermead Estate in Milton Keynes on 26 May 2011.

Fuad Awale, 25, and Sharmake Abdulkadir, 22, were found guilty at Luton Crown Court on Thursday.

Awale must serve a minimum of 38 years while Abdulkadir is to serve a minimum of 32 years.

Deer In Hospital Prompts Review

A review has been carried out after a reindeer was taken round the wards at Glasgow’s Sick Children Hospital before Christmas.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said the member of staff who brought the animal inside the hospital was well-intentioned, but had done so without the permission or knowledge of managers or senior staff.

The animal had been checked by a vet before being brought to the hospital for a Christmas charity event outside the premises.

But a member of staff thought the young patients at the hospital would enjoying seeing and petting the animal.

The health board has now conducted an internal review.

It confirmed that the animal was at no point in isolation with a child.

Al Fayed Challenges Waste Incinerator

Mohamed Al Fayed has launched a fresh court challenge against plans for a waste incinerator in Invergordon, Scotland.

The former Harrods boss owns Balnagown Estate, situated near the town in Easter Ross.

Combined Heat and Power (Highlands) Ltd won permission for the development last year.

Mr Al Fayed claims there has been a failure to consider the impact of the incinerator on road safety at the Tomich junction, along with a failure to asses the possibility of an alternative site.

Road In Newport Reopened After Boy Is Struck By Car

A road in Newport has been reopened following its closure after an 11-year-old boy was hit by a car.

The accident, which occurred around 15:20 on Thursday, caused the city's southern distributor road to be shut in both directions during the rush period. It reopened later.

The boy is reported to be in a critical condition in the Royal Gwent Hospital.

The 'green light' has been given for 15 new NHS hospital developments in a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) deal worth more than £4 billion, it has been announced today. Today's announcement will bring investment in new NHS hospitals to more than £16 billion since 1997, the health department said.

Baby Dies After Being Bitten By Family Pet
A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a baby bitten by dog in Sunderland. The three-week-old baby boy died in hospital following an incident at his home in Falkland Road. Police were called to the address at 04:15 on Saturday, 20 June. It is understood that the baby had been bitten by the families pet dog.

Al Fayed Denies Child Assault Claims
Harrods boss Mohamed al Fayed has vehemently denied a newspaper report alleging he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl, after voluntarily speaking to police. Mr al Fayed was questioned 'under caution' for 30 minutes, at a London police station yesterday, during which he denied the Sun newspaper's claims.

Diana And Dodi 'Murdered', Al Fayed Claims
Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed were murdered, Mohamed Al Fayed has told the inquest into their deaths. The Harrods boss - Dodi's father - told the inquest at the Royal Courts of Justice, that there was a plot to have the Princess killed, in order for Prince Charles to be able to marry Camillla Parker-Bowles.
