North Sea Oil Pipeline Declared Safe

The North Sea oil pipeline shut down following the discovery of a leak within the leg of an offshore platform, has been declared safe to use and will begin operations again today.

The Brent pipeline was closed on Monday as a precaution by operators of the Cormorant Alpha platform, Taqa.

As work begins to stop the leak inside the leg of the Cormorant Alpha platform, the flow of the 80,000 barrels of oil per day the pipeline carries is back underway, the company said.

All non-essential workers were removed from the North sea platform, which sits about 94 miles from Lerwick in Shetland.
