Driving Instructor Arrested In Fraud Investigation

A police investigation into an alleged cash-for-a-pass driving test scam has led to the arrest of a driving instructor.

The as-yet-unidentified man was arrested at 08.00 on Thursday morning at a north London driving test centre and a box of documents were seized.

It is alleged that the instructor accepted brides, for as much as £3,000, to pass people in advance.

It is understood that so far more than 100 people, who fraudulently obtained their licences from the instructor, have been identified

Those identified licenses are now being revoked.

Two other driving instructors and four test candidates were also arrested in London and Walsall, West Midlands.

Pilot Who Fell Ill Dies after Passenger Safely Lands Plane

Lack of driver education to blame for fatal accidents
A lack of driver education is to blame for fatal accidents on motorways according to a report by an insurance company. Direct Line, the UK's largest car insurer, is calling for changes to the driving test to include education on motorway driving due to a rise in the number of accidents involving heavy goods vehicles (HGV).

An Albanian man has been accused of possessing a loaded weapon outside the London home of former prime minister Tony Blair. Kutjim Nurka, 56, was stopped in his car by officers patrolling Connaught Street on Monday night.

Pregnancy test kit reports 'false negatives'
It is thought that hundreds of women tested for pregnancy in the UK inside the last 12 weeks may have been incorrectly told they are not pregnant. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said a problem had recently been identified with the SAS One Step pregnancy test kits.

British Diving Instructor Killed In Bahamas
A British diving instructor has been shot and killed during an armed robbery on his yacht in the Bahamas. Gary Vanhoeck, 51, was shot twice in the head-on board his boat at the Stuart Cove Dive Centre in front of his wife Kathryn, 42, who was tied up by the men. She was not injured during the incident.
