Man Jailed For Unprovoked Attack On Teenage Girl

A man has been jailed for four years for two separate surprise attacks on a teenage girl and a female student.

35-year-old Michael Ayoade, of Plaistow, east London, was caught on CCTV carrying out the motiveless assaults.

Passing sentence at Inner London crown court, Judge Roger Chapple said they were "vicious, unprovoked attacks on young, lone females".

The first attack was at Plaistow tube station on 20 November 2011, when he hit a university student in the side of the head, leaving her sprawled unconscious in the ticket hall.

Police released CCTV footage of his second attack in an appeal for information.

Around 12.30pm on November 13 last year Ayoade casually jogged up behind an unaware 16-year-old girl before punching her in the head.

She was knocked unconscious to the ground and suffered three broken teeth.

In the footage Ayoade is seen jogging away without even looking back.

It is thought he had followed the teenager for about 800 metres before the attack.

On Monday he was sentenced to four years for the attack on the teenager, and 19 months for punching the student, to run concurrently.
