Councillor Apologises For Comment On Disabled Children
An independent member of Cornwall Council has apologised for saying "disabled children cost the council too much money and should be put down".
Collin Brewer made the comments to a Disability Cornwall member at a stall at County Hall in Truro in 2011.
The charity complained and the authority's Standards Committee has reported its findings.
The Standards Committee ordered Mr Brewer to make a formal written apology to the charity.

His apology letter read: "I am writing to offer my wholehearted apology for the offence these remarks have clearly caused.
"While I meant no offence by my remarks to you I can see, in retrospect, that they were ill-judged and insensitive and should not have been made at all."

The boss of Haringey Council has issued a 'formal apology' for the abuse and death of Baby P. The 17-month-old baby had died in a blood-splattered cot at his home in Haringey in August, after suffering more than 50 injuries, including a broken back, despite being on the authority's 'at-risk' list.

The Food Standards Agency has today issued salt intake targets for children for the first time. The advice is based on a new report by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN). Recommendations are made on the maximum levels of salt that should be consumed each day by children, according to their age.
