UK Has Three Million Diabetics
The number of people in the UK who have been diagnosed with diabetes has reached three million for the first time, equivalent to 4.6 per cent of the UK’s population, according to new analysis carried out by Diabetes UK and Tesco.
The figure represents an increase of 132,000 people diagnosed with diabetes over the last year.
A further 850,000 people are thought to have undiagnosed Type 2 diabetes.

Horse Meat In School Dinners
Horsemeat has been discovered in minced beef served at schools in Leicestershire, the county council has confirmed.
Tests showed the beef contained less than 1% of horse DNA, the authority said.
Wendy Philip, county council head of school food, said: "We want to reassure parents that there is no health risk and that we're satisfied with the quality of all the beef products we serve.
"The vast majority of food we supply is Red Tractor-assured and we will continue to regularly seek assurances from our school food suppliers to ensure that they comply with legislation."
New Welsh Laws to strengthen school performance and drive up hygiene standards in Wales’ food businesses have been granted Royal Assent by Her Majesty the Queen.

Welsh Laws Receive Royal Assent
A Bill receives Royal Assent when Letters Patent under the Welsh Seal signed with Her Majesty’s own hand signifying Her Assent are notified to the Clerk of the Assembly.
The First Minister, as Keeper of the Welsh Seal, applied the Seal to the Letters Patent in a ceremony in Cardiff earlier today.
Carwyn Jones said: "When the people of Wales granted primary law making powers to the National Assembly in 2011, I said the ability to introduce our own Welsh laws based on the needs of the people of Wales was one of the most important events in the history of our proud country.
"Through our ambitious five year legislative programme, we are introducing 'made in Wales' laws which will make a real difference to the lives of people in Wales."
