Man Arrested Over Fatal Bus Stabbing

Police have arrested a 22-year-old man over the murder of a teenage girl who was stabbed to death on a bus.

Christina Edkins, 16, was attacked on board the bus on Hagley Road while on her way to Leasowes High School in Halesowen.

West Midlands Police spotted a man acting suspiciously who fitted the description of the suspect. He was arrested after a short chase.

Mr Shaw said: "We are deeply saddened to hear this tragic news and our thoughts and hearts go out to her family and everyone who knew her."

Extra police officers will be patrolling public transport this morning in the wake of the tragedy to reassure commuters.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.
