Civil Servants Strike As Budget Announced
In a dispute over pay and pensions civil servants are holding a one-day strike to coincide with the Budget announcement.
The Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union will hold a rally in Westminster during the chancellor's Budget speech.
The PCS says up to 250,000 of its members at government departments and bodies will be involved in the walkout, which will also hit jobcentres and tax offices, with picket lines to be mounted outside government offices, museums, galleries and the Houses of Parliament.
Part of a three-month campaign, the PCS say ministers have refused to negotiate over cuts.
The Cabinet Office has called the action "futile" and "irresponsible".

PCS Announce Civil Servants Strike Action
Up to 200,000 civil servants are to strike over pay, the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) has announced. The union, whose members include museum staff, job centre workers, driving test centre employees and port and airport personnel, claim that continuing pay freezes will result in an overall cut in income of 20%, in real terms.

Unions to ballot members over pension age proposals
The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) have announced plans to ballot their members on strike action, over government plans to raise the public sector pension age to 65. The PCS, which has 290,00 public sector members, will join UNISON, the TGWU and Amicus, in balloting their members about a possible strike on March 23.

Although Northern Ireland's Finance Minister and the First and Deputy First Ministers raised their concerns in London, some £300m of Westminster funding is being removed from the Stormont Executive. This is to "sort out a hole" in the Treasury's finances, Minister Sammy Wilson has said.
