Person Killed Walking On Hard Shoulder Of M25

Someone walking along the hard shoulder of the M25 in Surrey has been killed after a lorry hit a parked car around 04:30 on Wednesday morning.

It is not yet known who the victim is but reports suggest that a man in his 50s was walking along the hard shoulder after getting out of a Ford Focus, which stopped on the hard shoulder with its lights off.

A lorry then collided with the parked car and hit the person walking the hard shoulder, Surrey Police have said.

The pedestrian, who has not been named, was pronounced dead soon after 05:00 BST, police said.

A second person who stayed in the Ford Focus was treated for minor injuries.

The motorway was closed for several hours clockwise between junction six at Godstone and junction seven at Redhill and motorists were advised to expect delays of up to two hours until the queues had cleared.
