18-Year Sentence For Knife Attacks On Women

A 20-year-old man has been jailed for 18 years after he pleaded guilty to slashing two women in separate random attacks in west London.

19-year-old Kaja Zablocka and 26-year-old Deserilyn Aurelio were both slashed from behind and needed stitches in what the judge described as "devastating" attacks.

At the Old Bailey Sasha Masamba, of Nicholes Road, Hounslow, pleaded guilty to two offences of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The attacks happened in August 2012 in Hounslow.

The Recorder of London, Judge Brian Barker, said: "This is a most disturbing case.

"Noticeably, there was no request for money or sexual intent. The deep concern is a lack of any rational explanation for these acts.

"The victims could easily have died because the knife wounds were near arteries."
