Roger Moore collapses during performance

Acting legend Roger Moore has collapsed while appearing on stage in New York.

The 75-year-old actor, famous for his 1970s and 1980s portrayal of suave secret agent James Bond, experienced what were described as “respiratory difficulties” when he collapsed during a performance. He was appearing in a cameo role in ‘The Play What I Wrote’.

Taken to a Manhattan hospital, Mr Moore’s condition was reported to be “stable”.

Moore first shot to fame in the 1960s television sleuth series ‘The Saint’ a role that was recently revived in a movie starring Val Kilmer.

He then took over from Scottish actor Sean Connery in the role of Ian Fleming’s 007 agent James Bond for the 1973 film ‘Live and Let Die’. He appeared in six further Bond movies.

Recently Moore has acted as goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund.
