Stabbing Arrest Follows Crimewatch Appeal

The BBC's Crimewatch programme has led to the arrest of a man wanted by West Midlands Police in connection with the stabbing of a 30-year-old woman.

West Yorkshire Police responded to a call from a member of the public on Tuesday evening, who had seen a man featured on the programme.

A 38-year-old was arrested on Fullerton Street and taken into custody. He is being questioned by detectives.

The arrest follows the stabbing of a woman in a shared house on Glovers Road in Small Heath in December 2011.

The woman has now recovered, but was critically ill for some time after being stabbed in the stomach.

DC Rob Clarke, from Force CID, said: "This is a significant breakthrough in the investigation and I would like to thank the public for their help. It goes to show how just one call can make all the difference."

Indecent Exposure In Inverness

Police are appealing for information over an alleged indecent exposure in Inverness.

The incident took place at the Inverness retail park at approximately 14:00 on Saturday 27 April 2013.

It is alleged that a man in a car exposed himself to a female. The suspect was in a black estate car, described as being fairly dirty.

He is thought to be in his 60s, of a stocky build with long grey hair, clean shaven, wearing just a grey t-shirt.

Officers Injured In Neighbour Dispute

Two Greater Manchester Police officers have been injured following a call-out to a neighbour dispute in Old Trafford.

At around 18:45 on Tuesday, police were called to Stamford Street following a report of an argument between neighbours.

The officers arrived and spoke to a witness before attending a local address where they were confronted by a man in possession of a knife.

He attacked the officers, one sustaining an injury to the head and the other in the shoulder, and was subsequently arrested.

He remains in police custody for questioning, while both officers are now receiving hospital treatment for non-life threatening illnesses.

Detective Inspector Myra Ball, based at Trafford, said: "Thankfully neither officer appears to be seriously injured but this demonstrates the daily dangers faced by our officers when responding to incidents.

"Officers managed to take control of the situation, despite the injuries suffered, and quickly made an arrest."

Man Jailed After Stealing £3,000 Bike

A man has sentenced to four months in jail for stealing a £3000 racing bike belonging to a teenager who was due to race just days after.

25-year-old Thomas Jeffries of Bethnal Green Road in London pleaded guilty to theft of a pedal cycle at Redbridge Cycling Centre in May 2012 at Thames Magistrates Court on Wednesday 24 April this year.

He also admitted a second count of theft of a pedal cycle at the same cycling centre on 21 January 2012 and possession of cannabis.

14-year-old Georg Mew Jensen's bike was stolen from the cycling centre on 5 May 2012, but one of the teenager's friends took a picture of a van leaving the centre after he saw the driver loading Georg's bike into it.

The photo was passed to police and two days later the van was seized by Essex police, which led to Jeffries being identified. However, the bike was not inside.

While Jeffries was in custody, information led the Cycle Task Force to an un-attended parked van in Islington containing Georg's bike, which was returned to him in time for him to win his time trial.
