British Woman Killed In Snorkelling Accident

A British woman has died in Malaysia, the Foreign Office has confirmed.

The woman died off Perhentian Bersar Island on 27 May.

According to the BBC, Malaysia's state news agency, Bernama, said she was struck by a boat's propeller while snorkelling.

Malaysian police are investigating the accident.

A Foreign Office spokesman said they were providing consular assistance to the family.

Besut police chief Superintendent Kamaruddin Mohd Zakaria said the woman died while being taken for treatment by the boat operator involved, Bernama reported.

She had serious injuries to her legs and torso. An Australian male companion is also thought to have been injured in the accident.

Children Treated In Hospital Following Boating Accident
Two children are continuing to receive hospital treatment after being rescued from the River Avon following a boating accident in which their father and brother died. The family's rowing boat capsized in strong waters at a weir in Barford on Saturday afternoon. A local resident was able to pull the boy and girl from the water.

British Woman Dies After Trek To Everest Base Camp
A 49-year-old British woman has been found dead in a hotel room in Khumjung in Nepal. It is understood that the woman was on a trekking expedition with her daughter and had begun to experience breathing difficulties after returning from a hike to the Everest base camp. The woman's body is to be airlifted to Kathmandu for a post-mortem examination.
