Woolwich Suspect Remains In Custody

A 22-year-old man suspected of killing Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich last week remains in custody.

Michael Adebowale was discharged from hospital and will now be questioned by the Met Police Counter Terrorism Command over the soldier's murder.

A second suspect, 28-year-old Michael Adebolajo, remains in hospital. His family have since expressed their "horror" at the fatal attack in south-east London. Drummer Rigby was repeatedly stabbed in the street by two men in Woolwich last Wednesday, witnesses have said.

On Tuesday night, a 50-year-old man who was arrested in Welling, south-east London, on Monday was bailed, while Mr Adebowale has also been formally arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of a police officer.

Adebowale and Adebolajo were shot and injured by police at the scene near Woolwich Barracks. They have been under police guard in hospital since the incident.

Seven other people have been arrested in connection with the attack so far. Five have been bailed and two released without charge.

Man Arrested Over Missing Teenager

A man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap as police search for a missing teenager.

Georgia Williams, 17, has not been seen since she left her home in Wellington, Shropshire on Sunday evening around 7.30pm.

Detectives believe she was in the company of a 22-year-old man who was arrested this morning in Glasgow. A silver Toyota van allegedly driven by the suspect was tracked from Wellington to Oswestry in Shropshire before travelling to Rhyl, Chester, Cumbria and then on to Glasgow.

Superintendent Nav Malik, of West Mercia Police, appealed to Ms Williams to get in touch.

He said: "If you hear these appeals, please contact us. You are not in any trouble, we simply wish to make sure you are safe and well."

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Mercia Police.

Jury Retires In April Jones Case

A jury has retired to consider its verdict in the trial of a man accused of murdering five-year-old April Jones.

Mark Bridger, 47, denies abducting and murdering April who went missing near her home in Machynlleth in October last year.

Bridger has previously said he accidentally ran over the little girl with his car and "panicked" but could not remember what he did with the body. The prosecution argues he murdered her and lied to cover it up.

Throughout the trial, the court has heard how April's blood was found in several locations in Bridger's home and fragments from a human skull were found in his fire.

Judge Mr Justice John Griffith Williams continued his summing up of the case on Wednesday morning before the jury went out just before 2pm. He told the jury to "take as long as you need".
