Man Arrested Over Murder Of Missing Teenager

Police have said a man arrested over the disappearance of a teenager in Shropshire is now being questioned on suspicion of her murder.

Georgia Williams, 17, was last seen leaving her home on Sunday.

On Wednesday, a 22-year-old man from Telford was arrested in Glasgow on suspicion of kidnapping Ms Williams. He has since been returned to Telford where he was arrested on suspicion on murder.

Superintendent Nav Malik of West Mercia Police said the arrest was a result of developments in the investigation on Wednesday, but said the teenagers has still not been found.

He added that finding Ms Williams remains the "primary focus of our investigation".

At at a press conference, police also said the man arrested was not Georgia's boyfriend, but they were "friends on social media".

Williams is the daughter of a serving West Mercia Police officer. Her parents believed she was staying overnight with friends on Sunday and reported her missing on Tuesday, when it emerged that no one had seen or heard from her.

Police said the last text messages and calls from her mobile phone were made at about 8pm on Sunday.

Police in Scotland have searched two addresses in Glasgow, while forensic officers have also checked a property in Avondale Road, Wellington.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the rape of 12-year-old girl in east London. Three males lead the girl to a "secluded" end of a street in Walthamstow at around 00:15 on Saturday before two of them attacked her, held her down and raped her.

Further Arrest in Rhys Murder Investigation
Police investigating the murder of Merseyside schoolboy Rhys Jones have made another arrest. A 20-year-old man has now been arrested in connection with Rhys' murder, Merseyside Police confirmed on Wednesday. Earlier, it was confirmed that police have been granted more time to continue questioning eleven people arrested in connection with the case.

Seven Arrested On Suspicion Of Terrorist Fundraising
Seven people have been arrested on suspicion of terrorist financing offences, according to the Metropolitan Police. They were arrested at four separate addresses in London, Cardiff and Coventry at approximately 6am on suspicion of being concerned in the funding of a terrorist organisation, and laundering the proceeds of crime for that purpose.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.
