Sentences Increased Over Sexual Assault
The court of appeal has increased the sentences handed down to three men jailed for sexually assaulting an unconscious teenager, after it was successfully argued that the original three-and-a-half-years they were given was too lenient.
Graeme Defty, 36, David Wilcock, 34, and Tony McCarthy, 22, each had an additional two years added to their terms.
Trial Date Set For Rebekah Brooks
Rebekah Brooks will stand trial for phone-hacking and related charges in September.
Brooks, a former editor of the Sunday tabloid and the Sun newspaper, will be tried at the Old Bailey alongside eight other defendants including Andy Coulson, the former director of communications at Downing Street and ex-editor of the News of the World who is facing one charge in relation to alleged phone hacking. Coulson pleaded not guilty to this charge on Thursday.
The Queen Opens Rebuilt Broadcasting House
The new headquarters of the BBC, a rebuilt Broadcasting House, have been officially opened by the Queen.
Following a live broadcast of Radio 4, she was given a guided tour of the new building.
The Duke of Edinburgh had been due to accompany the Queen but was admitted to hospital on Thursday evening.

Rebekah Brooks Charged Over Phone-Hacking
Rebekah Brooks and husband, Charlie, are to be charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice over the phone hacking inquiry. Three of Mrs Brooks's staff, and News International head of security Mark Hanna are also charged with the offence.

Eight To Be Charged With Phone Hacking
Rebekah Brooks, Andy Coulson and six others will face a total of 19 charges relating to phone hacking, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has said. The former News of the World editors will be charged in connection with the accessing of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler's phone messages.
