Man Arrested In Connection With Four Murders In France

Police have arrested a 54-year-old man in connection with four murders in the French Alps last year.

Saad al-Hilli, 50, his wife Iqbal and her mother Suhalia, 74, were gunned down in their car while they were on holiday in France.

French cyclist Sylvain Mollier, 45, was also shot dead.

Surrey Police said the suspect was detained at an address in Chessington, Surrey, at around 7.30am and he is currently being held in police custody.

Officers from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team have been working closely with the French authorities to progress a number of lines of enquiry.

The search of the home in Surrey of a British family murdered in the French Alps almost three weeks ago has been completed, police have said.. Detectives have been searching the house for clues for the past two weeks, pulling out on Monday.

Single Gun Used In French Alps Murders
In the ongoing investigation into the killing of four members of a British family while on holiday in the French Alps, and a local cyclist, French police have said just one gun was used. Officials told reporters in Annecy that ballistics tests found 25 spent cartridges left at the scene, which came from a 7.65mm calibre semi-automatic pistol.

Bomb Squad Investigate House Of French Alps Shootings
The Surrey home of the family shot and killed in the French Alps last week has been examined by Army bomb disposal experts. In an operation that saw neighbours being evacuated. It is understood that items in a garden shed were examined but police have since said that they were not "hazardous".
