C4 To Air Daily Call To Prayer

Channel 4 have announced that it will broadcast the Muslim call to prayer during Ramadan, as a "form of provocation aimed at those associating Islam with extremism."

The head of the channels factual programming told the Radio Times the he thought coverage of Ramadan would be of more interest to viewers than "blanket coverage" of Royal events.

The channel will also broadcast a series of programmes about Ramadan.

C4 will become the first mainstream broadcast to screen the call to prayer every day.

Tesco Remove Horror Scene Colouring Book

A colouring book depicting scenes from horror movies is to be removed from sale from the Tesco website.

The book, aimed at adults, was mistaken added to a category for children aged five to eight.

Tesco said the book had been placed in the wrong category when listed on its website by a third-party seller.

Calls Made For Banning Of Chinese Lanterns

A senior Liberal Democrat MP has called for Chinese lanterns to be banned, following a fire at a recycling centre in London, which took three days to bring under control.

Tim Farron, who has been campaigning for some time against their use because of farmers' concerns about the impact on crops and livestock, said they are "immensely dangerous".

Investigators have established that a lantern – captured on CCTV falling on to the site – was to blame for the blaze in Smethwick, near Birmingham, which was tackled by 200 firefighters and caused £6m of damage.

British Tourist Drowns At Philippine Waterfall
A British tourist has drowned after being swept away by a strong current at a tourist spot in the Philippines. Richard Kidd, 56, from Gateshead, died on Saturday while swimming at Dunsulan Falls near Bataan, west of the capital, Manila.

Man Jailed For Life For Lesley Molseed Murder
A 54-year-old man has been found guilty of the murder of schoolgirl Lesley Molseed in 1975. Comic book dealer Ronald Castree, of Brandon Crescent, Oldham was found guilty of the 11-year-old's murder. He had denied the charge. He was jailed for life at Bradford Crown Court and told that he would have to serve a minimum of 30 years years in prison.

300 New Jobs Announced In Cardiff
A Cardiff-based call centre has announced the creation of 300 new jobs. Firstsource Solutions currently employs 800 people at Cardiff Bay and is to create new sales and customers service jobs in both its inbound and outbound departments. Making the announcement the company said that it is "delighted" to be able to bring new employment to Cardiff.

Police Release CCTV Footage After 6-Year-Old Boy Is Sexually Assaulted
Police have released CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to following after a six-year-old boy was sexually attacked at a community centre in central London. The incident is believed to have happened when he went to use the toilet at the Calthorpe Project on 1 July 2014.
