Cyclists Killed On Charity Ride Named

The cyclists who were knocked over and killed while on a charity bike ride have been named as Andrew McMenigall (48) and Toby Wallace (36).

The two men were killed when they were struck by a lorry on the A30 in Cornwall on Tuesday.

They had been riding to raise money for cancer charity, the Kristen Scott Memorial Trust.

Mr McMenigall is reported to be from Edinburgh and was married with two daughters. He worked as a senior investment manager with Aberdeen Asset Management.

Colleague Toby Wallace, who was also married, worked in the firm's Philadelphia office.

The 31-year-old driver of the lorry involved in the crash near Summercourt was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The man, from Holsworthy in Devon, has been released on bail until October.

Family and friends of Christian Smith, the cyclist killed while on a charity bike ride, have thanked everyone who has donated money to his JustGiving webpage. Currently, over £66,000 has been donated. Mr Smith was hoping to raise £1,000 for mental health charity Mind. He was taking part in a bike ride around Kent and Sussex last Saturday.

Man Killed Killed By Lorry On M5
Avon and Somerset Police have reported the death of a man on the M5 near Taunton. It is understood the man, aged in his late 50s, was driving a lorry which had hit the central reservation on the northbound carriageway near Taunton Deane services. The man is said that have gotten out of the cab of his lorry and was hit by another passing lorry.

Four-Year-Old Victim Of Bath Crash To Be Buried
The funeral is due to be held today of Mitzi Steady, who died in a tipper truck crash in Bath. The four-year-old girl was one of four people killed, including her grandmother, earlier this month when a truck lost control on Lansdown Lane in the city.

Almost 88,000 Racist Incidents Recorded In Schools
The BBC has reported that almost 88,000 incidents of racism were recorded in Britain's schools between 2007 and 2011. A racist incident is defined as, any situation perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person; these can include name-calling and physical abuse. Data from 90 areas showed 87,915 cases of racist bullying.
