Irishman Charged With Murder Of His Mother In Edinburgh

A 39-year-old Irishman has been charged with the murder of his 66-year-old mother, whose body it took police a month to identify.

The body of Phyllis Dunleavy, from Dublin, was found in a shallow grave by a cyclist on Corstorphine Hill, Edinburgh, on June 06.

Police appeal for information on the woman's body for a month before they were able to identify her.

It was only after they released a computer-generated image of the woman, based on CT scans of her skull, that a relative in Ireland contacted police.

It is understood Mrs Dunleavy was in Edinburgh visiting her son.

James Dunleavy, commonly known as Seamus, was arrested by police of suspicion of murder. He is due to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

The 39-year-old lived in Edinburgh, close to where the body was found.
