CWU To Ballot Postal Workers On Strike Action

Following the announcement of government plans to privatise Royal Mail, the Communication Workers Union have said that they will ballot postal staff over strike action.

It is understood that if "satisfactory agreements" are not reached by September, the union has agreed to proceed with a strike action ballot, which would be the first held since 2009.

The union has said its concerns are over protecting jobs and pay levels, and to to prevent any deterioration of pensions and postal services.
