Gascoigne Fined Over Railway Assault

Paul Gascoigne has pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and attacking a railway guard on 4 July.

The ex-footballer was fined £1,000 for the incident at Stevenage railway station.

It is understood that Gascoigne was returning to London from visiting his father in Newcastle when he got off the train in the Hertfordshire town.

A railway guard tried to assist Mr Gascoigne when he noticed he was stumbling towards to the railway tracks. However, as staff tried to help Gascoigne into a wheelchair, the former footballer became abusive and grabbed Mr Sherrington "in the neck area".

Mr Sherrington did not suffer any injuries in the incident.

Gascoigne was also ordered to pay Mr Sherrington £100 in compensation.
