Met Office Issue Flood Warnings As Rain Continues
The Met Office has issued a yellow severe weather warning amid fears of flooding caused by a heavy band of rain across the south-west and north of England, Wales and southern Scotland.
Forecasters have said that up to 2 to 3 inches of rain could be possible in south-west England, with west Yorkshire possibly being worst hit.
A Met Office spokesman said floods were a greater risk after periods of dry weather, with hardened ground not allowing water to be absorbed.
Yellow warnings are the least serious severe weather alerts issued by the Met Office, ahead of orange warnings to be prepared and red warnings to take action.

The UK is basking in sunshine as the country enjoys the warmest October 27 on record. Temperatures have risen as high as 21c in some parts of the country, beating the previous record of 20.3c, which was recorded in London in 1888. However, temperatures are expected to rise as high as 23c in some parts of the country.

Severe weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office, as temperatures across the UK are plummeting towards -10C. The alerts were issued by the Met Office for Tuesday morning in parts of south-east England and northern Scotland, and forecasters are predicting the arctic conditions to persist over the weekend and into next week.

Almost half of road users would make journeys in spite of severe weather warnings, according to Highway Agency research. The research also found that a fifth of those questioned do not check weather warnings before travelling on the roads, while one in ten people do not listen to the radio for warnings while driving.

The forecaster has warned of falling temperatures, which could lead to icy, frozen surfaces in untreated areas. Some 14 flood warnings also remain in place, which have been issued by the Environment Agency.
