Oxfordshire Stately Home To Go Hydropowered
Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, a World Heritage Site, is to receive a new £180,000 hydropower electricity system.
The "Archimedean screw" design hydropower system will be installed on the Rover Glyme, at Bladon Dam, and is expected to the generate enough power for 18 homes.
The move is expected to cut carbon emissions and is part of measures to make the palace one of Britain's greenest.
Historic Youth Hostel To Be Sold
Scotland's oldest youth hostel, first opened in 1931, is to be sold.
Current owners, the charity SYHA Hostelling Scotland, has agreed that Broadmeadows, near Selkirk, should be sold.
It is understood that a decline in the demand for the hostel, despite increased marketing efforts, is behind the decision.
Cardiff Unveil Chewing Gum Recycling Bins
Cardiff City Council have unveiled 100 new chewing gum recycling bins around the city.
It is understood that the 'Gumdrops' bins will initially be in place for six months around the city centre, and that the gun collected in them recycled to produce new bins.
The scheme is funded by a chewing gum firm and run in partnership with Cardiff council and Keep Wales Tidy.

Bins on the route that missing schoolgirl Shannon Matthews would have taken on her way from school are being searched as the hunt for the missing nine-year-old continues. Fifty specialist officers have been brought in to search bins on the route between Shannon's school - Westmoor Junior School - and her home in Moorside Road, Dewsbury Moor.

Almost 400 Jobs Cut At Newport Bakery
Almost 400 jobs are to be lost at a bakery in Newport. The Bakers, Food and Allied Workers (BFAW) union announced that 390 jobs are to be cut at the Avana bakery in Rogerstone, Newport by November. They say staff were informed of the cuts at lunchtime on Wednesday.

Sky News Cameraman Killed In Egypt
A Sky news cameraman has been shot and killed while covering the ongoing violence in Cairo, Egypt. The broadcaster confirmed the death of 61-year-old Mick Deane on Wednesday. Mr Dean had worked for Sky for 15 years. In a statement, Head of Sky News, John Ryley, paid tribute to an "experienced journalist" and a "much-loved colleague".
