Lifeguards Swim Nine People To Safety From Gully
Nine people, including six children, have been rescued by lifeguards after being trapped in a gully on a Cornish beach.
The RNLI said that lifeguards had to swim each of the nine people to safety as the gully was too dangerous to use a lifeboat or paddleboards.
Senior lifeguard Martin White said: "'Because of the shape of the gully and the size of the swell, it was impossible to get the inshore rescue boat or even the rescue board in close enough to pick up the casualties, so the only way was to swim in.
"It was a very difficult and long process, made even worse by the time pressures of the incoming tide and a building swell.
"Thankfully, we all know this beach and stretch of coastline very well and were able to read the waves and get them all out safely."

Snowdonia Walker Fall Death
A 23-year-old man has fallen 300ft (91.4m) to his death from a mountain in Snowdonia. The man and his friend, of the same age, had been walking in low mist when he slipped and fell from a gully cliff face on Glyder Fach. Members of the Ogwen Valley and RAF airlifted the him to hospital at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, where he was confirmed dead.

Five-Year-Old Girl And Grandfather Drown In Portugal Sea
A 66-year-old man and his 5-year-old granddaughter have drowned in Portugal after being swept out to sea. Named as Brian O’Dwyer and Lara Lewis, their bodies were recovered by a fisherman in the tourist resort of Nazaré, about 60 miles north of Lisbon, authorities said.

A nine-year-old boy and his father were saved from drowning by RNLI lifeguards at South Bay, Scarborough on Saturday 2 July after getting swept out to sea by a rip current. The pair, from Glasgow, were spotted by one of the charity's lifeguards at 2.30pm, around half a kilometre outside the safe swim area marked by red and yellow flags.

One Missing In Swansea House Fire
An investigation has been launched into a house fire in Swansea. Police said that two people rescued from the house are being treated in hospital, however, it is believed that a third person is still missing. It is understood the fire broke out at the home on Llangm estate, near Penplas, Penlan at about midnight.
