Fire At Police Firearms Training Centre

Firefighters remain at the scene of a fire, at the new police firearms training centre site at Valley Road, Portishead.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service crews arrived on the scene just after 4.30am on tuesday (27 August) where they found a well-developed fire affecting the building, which is currently under construction.

Six fire engines and a turntable ladder are being used by crews to tackle the fire.

A High Volume Pump (HVP) from South Wales Fire & Rescue Service is being mobilised to the scene to assist the AF&RS HVP which is already in attendance.

The two HVPs will be used to take water from a local river, which will be directed on to the fire using aerial appliances.

Valley Road is still closed and firefighters are expected to remain on the scene for much of the day.
