Anarchist Group Claim Responsibility For Police Centre Fire

Police are investigation claims made online by an anarchist group saying that they were responsible for a fire at a new police firearms training centre in Somerset.

A group calling itself Angry Foxes Cell posted on the Bristol Indymedia website that its members had targeted the under construction site at the Black Rock centre in Portishead.

The fire was spotted by a passing officer on Tuesday.

The group claim that on August 26 members "used accelerant to burn the major electrical cables" leaving the site with flames licking high".

Firefigthers are expected to remain at the site for serveral. Avon and Somerset Police are investigating the claims.

Met Reach Out-Of-Court Settlement With Family Of Ian Tomlinson
The family of Ian Tomlinson have reached an out-of-court settlement with the Metropolitan Police over his death in London in 2009. Mr Tomlinson died shortly after being struck with a baton and pushed to the ground by a riot officer during G20 protests in the city. Mr Tomlinson was not involved in the protests and was just making his way home.

Walliams Settles Hacking Claim With NGN
David Walliams has reached an undisclosed settlement with News Group Newspapers (NGN) over phone-hacking allegations. Walliams had begun a legal chase after being told by the news group that it had been intercepting his voicemail since 2005. No details of the settlement have been released but the figure is said to be "substantial".

Thousands of investors have launched a joint compensation claim against the Royal Bank of Scotland. The claim is for more than £3.5bn. The group claims the bank deliberately misled its shareholders into believing it was in good financial health, just before the organisation collapsed in 2008.
