Five Boys Arrested Over School Arson
Five boys aged between 11 and 15 have been arrested in connection with an arson attack at a school in Lancashire, which is reported to have caused "devastating damage".
The alarm was raised at around 4pm on Sunday and some 125 fire fighters were needed to fire the blaze at St Mary's Catholic Technology College in Leyland.
It is understood that part of the schools roof was made of foam, with no sprinkler system, helping the fire to spread.
The boys were arrested on suspicion of arson and have since been released on bail.
The school had been due to re-open on Tuesday following the summer holidays.

Renewed Appeal In 1995 School Teacher Murder Investigation
A fresh appeal for information has been issued 20 years after the murder of a Walthamstow school teacher. Joy Hewer was sexually assaulted and stabbed in an attack at her flat in Walthamstow on Tuesday, 17 October 1995. No one has ever been charged with her murder.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Firefighters launch four-day strike

£1bn is being unlocked to fund the Department of Education's free school meals commitment. The news, announced by deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, follows an announcement in September that every child in reception, year 1 and year 2 in state-funded schools will receive a free school lunch.
