Over 90 New Free Schools To Be Announced

Some 93 new free schools are to be opened, more than doubling the total to 174, the Prime Minister is due to announce today.

In what will be a joint appearance with Education Secretary Michael Gove, David Cameron is expected to also announce the opening of 13 studio schools and 12 university technical colleges across the country.

It is understood that 71 of the 93 planned new free schools will be located in areas in need of school places.

Some 130,000 school places are expected to be created within the new schools.
