Woman In 70s Arrested In Suspicion Of Murder

A woman in her 70s has been arrested in connection with the death of a man, also understood to have been aged in his 70s.

Sussex police have said that the woman was arrested on suspicion of murder over an incident at Seven Sisters Country Park near Eastbourne.

The identity of the victim and the details of his death have not yet been released by police.

An area if the country park and a car park at Exceat are both sealed off.

Stranded Minke Whale Put Down

A stranded minke whale has been put down in the Firth of Forth.

It comes days after a pilot whale died in shallow water near Edinburgh.

The minke whale was reported in the beach near Torryburn at around 07:40 this morning and firefigthers had been pouring water on the animal in an effort to keep it alive before an attempt to refloat it during high tide at around 16:00.

British Divers Marine Life Rescue however said the decision was taken to euthanise the whale as it was in distress, "lifting its tail and tremoring".

Flood Warnings Issued In Wales After Heavy Rainfall

Flood warnings have been issued for the whole of Wales following localised flooding in the in north west and south west.

A yellow warning for rain has been issued by the met Office as between 25 to 50mm of rain is expected from Friday afternoon and into Saturday afternoon with heavy bursts at times.

Flood alerts and flood warnings are updated on the Natural Resources Wales website every 15 minutes.

Birmingham struck by second tornado
Birmingham is believed to have been struck by another tornado as severe weather continued to affect the UK. A roof was ripped off a house in Dovey Road, Moseley by the high winds and a nearby road was closed when it became littered with debris. It is understood that no one was in the house at the time and there were no reports of injuries.

The Environment Agency has issued severe flood warnings are in place for Somerset today as successive bands of rain show no signs of easing. Further heavy rainfall is expected today, Friday and Saturday, exacerbating the risks of flooding from rivers and surface water across the south west, central and south east of England.

Flood Alerts Follow Snowfall
The UK Environment Agency has issued flood warnings across Britain, following another night of heavy snow. Some parts of the country woke to over 10cm (4in) of snow on Monday morning. Most areas have been covered in a white blanket at least 5cm deep.

Environment Agency Issues Flood Warnings
The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings on southern and south west England, south west Wales and the Midlands. Successive bands of heavy rain are moving across England and Wales, and with the ground already saturated, this is likely to lead to property flooding from rivers and surface water as well as disruption to road and rail networks.
