MP Nigel Evans Appears In Court Over Sex Offences

Nigel Evans MP has appeared in court charged with sex offences.

The ex-Commons deputy speaker is facing two charges of indecent assault, five of sexual assault and one of rape. All charges related to seven alleged male victims.

Reports show that Mr Evans appeared briefly at Preston Magistrates' Court, where his case was then sent to the Crown Court.

He was bailed to appear again on 4 October.

A man has appeared before a district judge charged with murdering a woman and her baby. Wesley John Williams, 28, was charged with the murders of Yvonne Walsh, 25, and her seven-month-old son Harrison. Williams from Birmingham spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

A 19-year-old has appeared in court charged with the murder of four children who died in a house fire. Dyson Allen is accused of killing siblings Jordon Smith, 2, twins Holly and Ella, 4, and Reece, 19. They all died of smoke inhalation at a bungalow in Freckleton, Lancashire, in January. Their mother was saved by firefighters.

Sheffield United Urged To Reconsider Evans Decision
Sheffield United have been urged to reconsider its decision to allow convicted rapist Ched Evans to train with the club. Sheffield Central MP Paul Bloomfield said if the club proceeded it would send "a disturbing message to young people and victims of sexual violence".

Mother Appears In Court Over Children's Deaths
A mother charged with murdering three of her children has appeared in court. Tania Clarence appeared before magistrates on Friday morning. She is charged with killing her four-year-old daughter and three-year-old twin boys. She has been remanded in custody for another hearing on 29 April, it is understood.

April Jones Accused Appears In Court
A man charged with the abduction and murder of five-year-old April Jones has been remanded in custody after appearing in court via a video link. 46-year-old Mark Bridger was seen in Caernarfon Crown Court on Wednesday, nine days after April went missing.
