School Staff Refuse To Teach Knife Threat Pupil
Staff at a school in Birmingham have refused to teach a pupil who has been allowed to return to the school after threatening other pupils with a knife.
The teenager had been permanently excluded from Saltley School, but the schools governors later overturned that decision, allowing him to return.
The exact details for how the staff will refuse to teach the pupil, and the impact of that on other pupils, have not been released, due to the sensitive nature of the situation, a schools spokesperson said.
Preston Bus Station Given Listed Status
Grade II listed status has been granted by the government to Preston's under-threat bus station.
It is understood that Preston City Council want to demolish the station, claiming it would cost £17 million to modernise.
The council have said the listing of the building was "not the outcome we were hoping for".
Ex-Headmaster Summonsed On Child Cruelty Charges
A former headmaster has been summonsed to court to face charges of child cruelty and assault.
59-year-old Stephen Player, ex-headmaster at Spratton Hall an independent school in Northampton, is due to appear next month along with three other men at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates' Court.
The summons has been issued by Suffolk Police investigating historical physical and sexual abuse of children over a 21-year period in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

Pupil Dies On School Trip To France
A 12-year-old girl has died during a school trip to the south of France. Jessica Lawson, a pupil at Wolfreton School in Hull, was on a visit to the Activ4 adventure centre in the Massif Central region. It is understood a swimming accident occurred and she was airlifted to hospital in Limoges on 21 July, where she later died.
