Teacher Strikes Continue At More Than 2,000 Schools

The UK's two largest teaching unions are on strike in a continuing dispute over pay, pensions and workloads.

The strikes are affecting more than 2,000 schools in 49 authorities across England.

It is the latest industrial action by members of the NUT and NASUWT in rolling regional strikes.

Some 2,500 schools are thought to be closed or partially closed in a dispute over pensions, increased workloads and government plans to bring in performance-related pay, from this autumn.

Critics of the strike action have said that the teacher stoppage will affect pupils and risk the reputation of teachers.
