IT Problem Continues Into Second Day For NHS GGC
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC) has issued an "unreserved apology" for an ongoing IT problem, now in its second day.
It is understood that only a basic level of IT service is functioning within Scotland's largest health board, which has had to cancel treatment or appointments of some 564 patients in the last 36 hours.
It is thought that up to 10 hospitals in region could be affected by the ongoing disruption.
Robert Calderwood, NHS GGC chief executive said: "I apologise unreservedly for the inconvenience this has caused to our patients who have had their procedures postponed, and I will ensure that everything possible is done to get their treatment carried out at the earliest possible opportunity.
"I can assure everyone that our senior management team, IT specialists and clinical leads have been working around the clock and will continue to do so until this issue is resolved."

An IT problem that crashed Scotland's largest health board for two day has been fixed. It is still not known what caused NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's (GGC) IT system to fail, which resulted in hundreds of appointments and procedures being cancelled and affected 11 hospitals.

New £2m Helipad Developed At Hospital In Devon
A new helipad has been built at Derriford Hospital in Devon. The £2 million facility will allow air ambulances to land at night. Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopters can also be facilitated. The previous landing area, a grassy region with no lights, was described as "unsuitable" for larger helicopters.
