Controversial Leisure Resort Rejected By Planners
Planners have refused an application for a controversial leisure resort on Anglesey.
Developer Land & Lakes had applied for permission to build an 800 lodge water park on the former smelting works at the Anglesey Aluminium Metals (AAM) site, which closed in 2009.
The plan had laid out the development of some 500 initial lodges and cottages alongside a sports hall, spas, saunas, restaurants and walking and cycling routes.
However, Anglesey council reject the plans by 5 votes to 2, with one abstention.
Objection to the plans had focused on its size and impact.
It is understood that the plans will now come back to a further meeting of the authority because the refusal was against officers' advice.
