Man Charged With Helping Convicted Murderer Escape Custody

A 29-year-old man is to appear in court for his role in helping a convicted murderer escape from a mental health centre.

Dean Ablakwa will appear before Thames Magistrates' Court charged with conspiracy to assist an offender to escape.

The charge is in connection with the escape of convicted murderer Lerone Boye from the John Howard Centre in Homerton, east London, on October 16.

In December Boye was jailed for a minimum of 28 year for the death of 17-year-old Kelvin Chibueze, who was stabbed to death in Ilford, east London.

Boye has not been recaptured and police have renewed their appeal for information.

He is described as black, approximately 5ft 10in tall, slim, with short black hair. He also has a scar on his right cheek, a goatee beard and a gold tooth in his upper row of teeth.

People are advised not to approach him but dial 999.
