Patients And Staff Evacuated Following Acid Spill

Patients and staff have been evacuated from a hospital in North Yorkshire following an acid spill.

Firefighters attended the scene in the endoscopy unit at approximately 8.40am on Friday morning.

The spill involved a drum which contained peracetic acid.

According to the fire service the scene has now been made safe.

No-one was injured in the incident.

16-Year-Old Charged Over Brighton 'Acid' Attack
A 16-year-old male is due to appear in court over an alleged 'acid' attack in Brighton. The teenager was arrested on Tuesday following an incident involving a 23-year-old man at about 10am. The boy is accused of throwing a corrosive fluid into man's face and causing criminal damage to a Ford Fiesta car.

Man In Critical Condition Following Acid Attack
A man is in a critical condition in hospital after acid was thrown in his face in Cornwall. The attack happened in Carrine Road, Truro, on Tuesday 9 December. He is currently being treated at Treliske Hospital. Police are appealing to speak to the driver of a red Peugeot van seen in Carrine Road around the time of the incident.

Acid Attack Victims Due Back In UK
The two 18-year-old British women injured in an acid attack in Zanzibar are due to arrive back in the UK today. Kirstie Trup and Katie Gee were in the last week of a volunteer teaching job they had taken on the east African island when they had acid thrown at them as they walked through Stone Town.
