Patients And Staff Evacuated Following Acid Spill

Patients and staff have been evacuated from a hospital in North Yorkshire following an acid spill.

Firefighters attended the scene in the endoscopy unit at approximately 8.40am on Friday morning.

The spill involved a drum which contained peracetic acid.

According to the fire service the scene has now been made safe.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Plans to add folic acid to bread approved
The Food Standards Agency has approved plans to fortify bread with folic acid in a bid to reduce birth defects such as spina bifida. The proposal was agreed unanimously by the watchdog's board and will now be recommended to health ministers.

16-Year-Old Charged Over Brighton 'Acid' Attack
A 16-year-old male is due to appear in court over an alleged 'acid' attack in Brighton. The teenager was arrested on Tuesday following an incident involving a 23-year-old man at about 10am. The boy is accused of throwing a corrosive fluid into man's face and causing criminal damage to a Ford Fiesta car.
