Unemployment Rate Falls To Three Year Low

New figures from the Office for National Statistics have shown that total number of UK unemployed has fallen to 2.47 million, a decrease of 48,000.

The unemployment rate now stands at its lowest in over three years, at 7.6%.

The figures also show that the number claiming jobseekers allowance now stands at 1.31 million, a fall of some 41,700.

Some 177,000 more people were recorded as being in work, bring the total number of people in work to 29.95 million. The ONS also recorded a 0/7% increase in pay.

The Bank of England continue to maintain that it would not consider revising interest rates until the unemployment rate falls below 7%.

The UK's unemployment rate has fallen to 7.7% for the first time since late 2012, according to official statistics. The figures, released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), revealed that in the three months to July, the unemployment rate fell from 7.8%, with the number of people out of work dropping by 24,000 to 2.487 million.

The number of people unemployed has fallen by 29,000 in the period September to November. According to the Office of National Statistics, the unemployment rate was 5.5%, down 0.1% from the previous quarter. This month's figures show an increase in the number of people in employment but a fall in the employment rate.

UK Unemployment Rate Falls
The UK's unemployment rate has fallen to 1.86 million, new official figures have revealed. In the three months to January, the number of those out of work fell by 102,000. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) added that the unemployment rate remains at 5.7%, but the number of people in work increased to a record high in the quarter.

Latest figures released from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) fell by 4,000 in the three months to June, bringing the total number of people out of work in the UK to 2.51 million. The number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance also fell by 29,000 to 1.4 million. However, the unemployment rate remains at 7.

Employment falls by 9,000 over last quarter
The employment rate has fallen by 9,000 over the last quarter, with unemployment remaining unchanged, according to the latest labour market research. The labour market trend assessments this month show that the employment rate is levelling off, while the unemployment rate "may still be falling slightly".
