Busby Babe Bill Faulks Dies Aged 81
Bill Foulkes, the former Manchester United captain who survived the 1958 Munich air crash, has died aged 81.
Busby Babe Foulkes made 688 appearances for Manchester United.
Sir Bobby Charlton said the defender was a "marvellous man" and United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward added "he will never be forgotten".
St Helens-born Foulkes played for United in their 1968 European Cup win.
Foulkes was a key member of Sir Matt Busby's team of talented young players, who were nicknamed the Busby Babes.
Trott Leaves Australian Ashes TourM
Cricketer Jonathan Trott has reportedly left the Ashes tour of Australia.
It is understood that he has stepped away from the tour due to a long-standing stress-related condition.
England coach Andy Flower said: "He needs time away from this environment and time with his family."
Appeal For Funds To Keep Painting In UK
A public appeal has issued in an effort to raise the £12.5 million needed to keep the last self-portrait of Sir Anthony Van Dyck in the UK.
Painted by the Flemish artist shortly before he died, possibly of plague, in 1641, it has been described as "one of the finest and most important self-portraits" in British art, the painting was recently sold to a collector who wishes to take it abroad.
The painting has become subject to a temporary export ban, with the National Portrait Gallery now having three months to raise the cash to buy it.
It has already secured £1.2m, including a £500,000 grant from the Art Fund and £700,000 from its own budget.
The painting will go on display at the gallery while it tries to find the remaining £11.3m.

First Official Duchess of Cambridge Painting Revealed
The first official painted portrait of The Duchess of Cambridge has gone on show to the public. The National Portrait Gallery's painting of its Patron was commissioned by the Gallery, and given by Sir Hugh Leggatt, in memory of Sir Denis Mahon, through the Art Fund.

A painting by Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso, has sold for a record-breaking $104 million (£58 million) at auction, making it the world’s most expensive painting. The painting, ‘Garcon a la Pipe’ (‘Boy with a Pipe’), was sold to an anonymous bidder at a Sotheby’s sale in New York.

Plymouth Artist Dies 'Peacefully'
Plymouth artist, Beryl Cook has died at the age of 81. Mrs Cook died peacefully at her home with her husband and family at her side. The artist - who was born in Surrey - lived and worked for a while in London in fashion and briefly as a showgirl. She was never trained and did not take up painting until she was in her 40s.
