Man Released Following Rape Arrest

Greater Manchester Police have released a man without charge following an arrest on suspicion of rape.

On the afternoon of Saturday 22 June 2013, police received a report that a 24-year-old woman was raped by a man as they walked through Hurst Cemetery off King's Road, Tameside.

Then, on 24 June, a 34-year-old man from Ashton-under-Lyne was arrested on suspicion of rape.

Police now believe that no crime has occurred and the man has been released without charge.

Detective Constable Laura Orton, said: "We are now confident that no crime has occurred and this man has duly been released without charge.

"Based on the information we had at the time it was important we did everything we could to identify the man in the image we released and it is now equally important to publicly state he has been fully exonerated of any wrongdoing."

Leeds Woman Robbed Of Mobility Scooter

West Yorkshire Police are appealing for information after a disabled woman was robbed of her mobility scooter.

The incident occurred in the East End Park area of Leeds at around 10pm on Mischief Night (4 November).

The victim, a woman in her 40s, was travelling on a mobility scooter along Back Ivy Avenue when two men blocked her path. They told her to get off the scooter before stealing the vehicle.

One of the men is described as 5' 7" to 5'10" tall, quite skinny and wearing a dark coloured hooded top. The other man is described as shorter and chunkier in build. He was wearing a dark hooded top with 'NO FEAR' on the front.

Anyone with information is asked to call DC Sarah Banks in North East Leeds CID on 101. Alternatively, information can be passed to independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Investigation Follows Liverpool Bank Robbery

Merseyside Police are investigating a burglary at a bank in north Liverpool on Monday afternoon, 2 December.

Shortly after 5pm, police were called to the Prescot Road branch of Halifax in Old Swan by the manager.

Officers found a number of offenders had gained entry to the bank at closing time through the roof. They threatened staff before stealing a large amount of cash.

None of the nine members of staff were badly hurt, but all were left shaken by the ordeal. One women suffered a minor neck injury after being knocked over when the offenders dropped down into the bank.

Officers secured the area and during a search a Landrover Freelander was found abandoned in nearby Aylesford Road.

The car has been seized by the police for forensic examination.

Detectives investigating the robbery believe there were up to four offenders involved. All are described as white, aged in their late teens or early 20s who were wearing dark clothing and grey face coverings.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area shortly before or after the incident is asked to call St Anne Street CID on 0151 777 4065 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

TV presenter Chris Tarrant has been arrested following an alleged assault during a domestic incident at his home, it has been emerged. Tarrant, who hosts Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? And Colour of Money, was questioned by officers at Staines police station in Middlesex after a woman claimed she was assaulted.

Fallon released without charge in conspiracy probe
Sixteen people, including the champion jockey Keiren Fallon, who were arrested by City of London Police as part of a conspiracy to defraud probe have been released without charge. The detainees, who were questioned by police yesterday afternoon, have been bailed to appear at a London Police Station in two months time.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Six Arrested Over Nottingham Street Brawl Death
Police investigating the death of a 19-year-old man in Nottingham have arrested six people. Joshua Bradley, of Bulwell, died following a suspected street fight in Thurland Street, on 08 February. Two men, aged 21 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
