UK Soldier Held Under Terrorism Act
A UK soldier has been detained by police under the Terrorism Act.
The arrest follows the discovery of a suspicious device at a property in Salford, Manchester.
The device, thought to be a nail bomb, was discovered by Greater Manchester Police last week.
It is understood the 19-year-old was arrested on Monday by military police in Germany before he was flown to Britain to be questioned about suspected links to right-wing extremism.
Following a tip-off about abusive images on a computer, police executed a warrant in Mellor Street, when they came across the suspicious device.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing abusive images following the raid, while officers recovered "several items of literature which could be viewed by some as potentially inflammatory".
Both men have since been released on bail.

Police are continuing to question a 39-year-old man in relation to the death of a Polish millionairess who was found beaten to death at a Paris hotel room. The man was arrested on Monday morning in woodland near Macclesfield, Cheshire. It is understood he had been living rough in a tent in the woodland.

A 20-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder, after a man was shot dead in the Longsight area of Manchester last night. Officers this morning appealed for information about the incident. A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said officers responded to reports of a shooting on Stamford Road at around 6.20pm last night.

A man has been arrested following the discovery of the bodies of a man and woman in a house in Sheffield. The bodies of the 34-year-old woman and 46-year-old man were found in a ground floor room of the house in Wath Road, in the Nether Edge area of the city, shortly after 10.30pm on Monday night.
