Suspected Murder-Suicide In House Fire

A house fire in which three people were killed may have been started by one of the deceased.

Detectives believe one line of inquiry is the blaze was started as part of a murder-suicide bid.

The fire, which occurred at a property at Albert Road West in Bolton, has been described by police as "suspicious".

An elderly woman was rescued from the upstairs of the property, and was taken to hospital, but later died from her injuries. Following a search of the house, a further two bodies were discovered in the kitchen.

Post-mortem examinations will now be carried out to establish how the victims died.

Greater Manchester Police said the force had received no information of any threat to the family involved and detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the fire.

Fire chiefs said the blaze is likely to have started in the kitchen but then spread to most of the house.
