New Stonehenge Visitor Centre To Open

English Heritage has announced that the newly built Stonehenge visitor centre will open on Wednesday.

The £27m project was built to "restore the dignity" of the monument and includes the grassing over of the A334 road, which previously ran alongside Stonehenge.

A shuttle bus will now transport visitors the mile-and-a-half distance between the visitor centre and the stones.

English Heritage say that the new visitor centre will feature some 250 prehistoric objects, many of which have not been displayed before.

Work will begin next month to decommission the original 1960's visitor centre and grass over the original car park.
