Four In Five Rail Passengers Unaware Of Refund Rights

A survey conducted by the rail authority has found that four out of five passengers don't know their rights surrounding claiming compensation.

The report by the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) found that a key reason for this was a lack of information – 18% of respondents said they felt information on passengers rights in regards to train cancellations and refunds was "readily available", with 68% saying it was ‘rarely’ or ‘never’ available.

Going on to ask passengers for suggestion on how these services could be improved, the survey found rail users wanted information to be clearer and more readily available, and better assistance from train companies.

The report, Passenger Compensation and Refund Rights for Delays and Cancellations Report, can be read in full on the ORR website
