Appeal To Save 118-Year-Old Regent Street Cinema
An appeal has been launched to try and raise £2m to restore the UK's first cinema to show a moving picture show.
The 118-year-old Regent Street Cinema used by the Lumiere brothers to show their first moving picture show on 21 February 1896.
£4m has been raised to date for the restoration project, but another £2m in needed.
It is hoped that restoration work on the cinema will begin in April and be completed in a year, at which time the cinema would be reopened to the public.
Couple Rescued After Becoming New Forest Bog
Twenty firefighters were involved in an operation to free a couple, aged in their 60s, from a bog.
The man and woman had been walking in the New Forest when they "found themselves stuck in boggy ground" near Burley. Fortunately they had mobile phone signal and were able to call for help.
Firefighters used specialist equipment to free them from the mud.
Storm Expose WWII Tank Defences On Beach
The recent storms have uncovered World War Two tank traps and giant metal chains on Rest Bay beach in Porthcawl, Bridgend.
The traps and chains were installed at the beach in case of a German landing.
Work on removing the traps will being on Monday.

Chat show veteran Parkinson moves to ITV
ITV has signed up BBC chat show veteran Michael Parkinson on a two-year deal, it has emerged today. Mr Parkinson, who has hosted his eponymously-titled programme for 18 years, said that he decided to move to commercial broadcaster ITV after his Saturday night primetime slot was threatened by the return of Match of the Day.

Private Equity Firm Buys Vue Cinema Chain
The Vue cinema chain has been sold for £935 million to a private equity firm in Canada. OMERS Private Equity and Alberta Investment Management bought the chain of 146 UK and European cinemas from Doughty Hanson, who had bought the chain in 2010 for £450.

Police have appealed for information after a young woman was indecently assaulted at a West Midlands cinema. The incident happened between 4.10pm and 6pm on Monday within a screening room in Cineworld at Touchwood Shopping Centre in Solihull.
