Ofcom To Investigate Benefits Street

Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom is to investigate Channel 4's Benefits Street following more than 1,700 complaints.

It is understood that viewer were angered by the documentary series' portrayal of benefit claimants, with the show's depiction of crime specifically resulting in hundred of complaints to both the regulator and Channel 4.

Ofcom report that the shows opening episode attracted the most complaints after footage showed tags being removed from clothes that had apparently been stolen.

Chat show veteran Parkinson moves to ITV
ITV has signed up BBC chat show veteran Michael Parkinson on a two-year deal, it has emerged today. Mr Parkinson, who has hosted his eponymously-titled programme for 18 years, said that he decided to move to commercial broadcaster ITV after his Saturday night primetime slot was threatened by the return of Match of the Day.
